The following key activities are scheduled under the project:

• Establishment and strengthening of the EA associations at the national and regional levels.
• Information exchange through News Bulletins and web page
• Creation of an EIA Professionals’ database
• Organizing national and regional training programs, thematic discussions and conferences
• Providing a secretariat (from IUCN-Asia) for the network until it become self-sustaining.

Till now SAREAA has been successful in organising the following:

• Sri Lanka National EIA Training Workshop & Thematic Session on SEA, November 5-7, 1999, Colombo.
• Regional Training Workshop on Integrating Biodiversity concerns in EIA, December 4-5, 1999, Kathmandu, Nepal. 
• First Annual South Asian Environment Assessment Conference, December 4-7, 1999, Kathmandu, Nepal.
• Regional SEA workshop, Oct. 30-Nov1 2000, Islamabad, Pakistan.
• Regional training workshop on Integrating Biodiversity Concerns in EIA, Nov 20-21 2000, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
• Second Annual South Asian Environment Assessment Conference, Nov. 20-24 2000, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
